Alice has always enjoyed art, with drawing a love right from her early childhood years. Born in Tasmania, Alice has spent an equal number of years living in both Australia and New Zealand. With time out to raise a family, Alice had some periods where she didn't pick up a brush. But she confesses, at times she just felt compelled to paint.
Alice was tutored by Miss Brenda De Butts a well known painter in Nelson. She also took up 2 courses of study whilst resident in Hobart, Tasmania. In 1982, Alice won the Montana Art Award, sharing the top prize with 3 others, while also having another of her watercolours chosen as a finalist. Alice's work again reached the final selection in a subsequent Montana Art Award, thus reflecting her skill in her chosen medium. Adding to this, Alice has also won a merit award for her watercolour work in a Tauranga art award, and one sponsored by a manufacturer of art materials.
These days Alice tutors others in painting, sharing her skills in classes such as 'watercolours for beginners'. She loves imparting knowledge, encouraging and supporting the growing enthusiasm in her students. "it is a pleasure to see the results shining through". Alice has her work in private collections in South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, England and the United States of America. Alice can be contacted for commission work.
