Elenor Gill
Gisborne

Elenor Gill, is a writer of tales of the supernatural, the mystic and the magical. She is already the author of two novels published by HarperCollins with more to come...
Her first book, In The Shadow Of Trees, was issued as a Prime Read and the second, Miriam's Talisman, also a Prime Read, had the distinction of being under contract before the first book was even released. Miriam's Talisman is a paranormal romance set in the UK. Released in March 2007 and already reprinted, it was chosen as Book Of The Month by Angus and Robertson, the Australian distributor.
Elenor emigrated from England in 1999 with her husband Brendon to join their daughter in Gisborne. She had worked for many years as an occupational therapist in remedial psychiatry where she developed the use of creative writing as a therapeutic tool in the treatment of mental illness. This gave her the opportunity to explore her own literary skills which have since blossomed into a new, if somewhat late, career.
Elenor works with the support of a locally based writers group, The Poverty Bay Pen Pushers and has a lifelong interest in the paranormal and all things Celtic. She is known around town as a member of the Celtic music group, Limerick, and is also a member of the Gisborne Artists Society.
Her third novel The Moon Spun Round is under contract and will be released in April 2008. The story is set in the UK, on the borders of Cambridgeshire and Suffolk which, in the seventeenth century, was the hunting ground of Matthew Hopkins, the Witchfinder General. Echoes of the past are replayed through a group of present day women as they seek self realisation through worship of the female deity.
Gill has begun a fourth novel but it is early days yet. She has been invited to appear at literary events in Taupo and Rotorua as part of New Zealand's Book Month, and will appear as a guest at the Going West Books and Writers Festival at Titirangi.
