It was about twelve years ago that Kathy made the decision to pack up her home in Auckland and move to Wairoa to start a new phase in her life. It is a decision that she is very happy with. Kathy belongs to an artistic family, her sister Dale is also a painter, and Kathy's creative skills extend into both spinning and pottery. Art is something that Kathy has done on and off over the years. Although untrained, she has attended a number of tutorials since being in Wairoa in order to upskill. Kathy's favourite subject to paint are treasured family pets. She especially enjoys painting horses and dogs, using pastel "because you get a nice soft finish".
