Sean Gaskin
Wairoa

London, 4th January 1988: Sean Gaskin started work as a freelance cartoonist. His influences have primarily come from France and America. Goscinny & Uderzo's "Asterix" made a huge impression on him as a youngster, which can be recognised in "Black Jack Hook", Sean's newspaper cartoon strip that appears in the 'Wairoa Star'. Another major influence has been Disney's Golden Age of Animation.
"Black Jack Hook" was originally created on the mediterranean island of Malta in 1992. It takes a humorous look at the crazy life of a cartoon pirate with personal issues. These original newspaper cartoon strips are presently being published in the 'Wairoa Star' while Sean works on new up-to-date strips with a kiwi flavour. He has big plans for "Black Jack Hook", so continue to watch this space for the latest news on the crazy cartoon pirate!
Sean also does cartoon work in advertising, posters, greetings cards, book illustration, website visuals and any other place you can think of to place a cool looking cartoon.
