The Guild of Creative Arts and Crafts
Gisborne

Gisborne's Arts and Crafts Guild brings together quite an eclectic bunch..
Potters, wood turners, textile artists, jewellery makers, painters, card makers, toy makers, mosaic artists, photographers, and silversmiths are amongst the members of this Gisborne group, passionate about bringing a wider, more interesting offering of arts and crafts products to the public.

Creative people seek out the Guild for any number of reasons:
Many are people hoping to turn their creative interest into a paying proposition. Others wish to participate in the various workshops put on by Guild members and others simply seek the company or inspiration of others with shared or similar creative interests.

And now the Guild are about to open their new shop (from November 10)…

River End Creations.  River End Creations will stock a variety of locally handmade items including batik, bead and crystal jewellery, ceramics, educational games, glass works, hand knitting, Maori crafts, mosaic tiling and beading, soya candles and burners, tamari, and mobiles.  River End Creations will be open Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 4:30pm and Saturdays 10:00am to 1:00pm

The Guild for its part facilitates points of sale for its members; keeps them informed of opportunities and events, both locally and out of town through bi-monthly newsletters; organises bi-annual exhibitions at the Tairawhiti Museum; puts on four craft fairs a year; and produces a local craft trail brochure.

Guild members also participate in all manner of festivals and other local events, selling their works, and have recently started working with local wineries to cater for cruise ship visitors.

The Guild are always looking for new members...
