Andrea Ford loves to surround herself with creativity and interesting people. Her business, EastcapeART is a reflection of that, a place where you get to explore your creative skills, enjoy fabulous food, meet interesting people, learn something new, and escape from your normal life for a while.
EastcapeART offers a multitude of quality art experiences in mediums such as mosaics, glass mosaics, watercolour painting, acrylic painting, silver jewellery, artclay silver, bead jewellery, soft stone sculpture, Oamaru stone carving, garden sculpture, weaving, darjit, clay, ceramics, and wearable arts. Children's workshops, taken by qualified teachers, are run in school holidays. A purpose-built studio set in two acres of stunning gardens provides the venue ...and there is even a 15m swimming pool to cool off in through those hot Gisborne summer days!
Workshop tutors are selected for their artistic talent, their teaching capabilities, sense of humour, and ability to get the best out of the participants. Numbers are kept to a minimum to enable greater individual attention and a better opportunity to get to know the rest of the group.
Tasty refreshments are served on the French provincial style terrace. All food is local, home made, and organic where possible and quality local wine is served with lunch.
Workshops range from one to three days and they are generally run in weekends and holidays. EastcapeART invite people to design their own workshop and weekends away. In the past they've hosted team-building groups from Auckland, a hens party from Wellington, a 40th birthday party and other groups of people just wanting to get together for a creative break with their friends. The choice of medium, the tutor, number of attendees, length of workshop, accommodation, travel and even nightlife can all be made in consultation with you.
