Ruth Dudding has been working in theatre, television and video production for over 20 years. Since her graduation from The New Zealand Drama School in 1982 she has worked both in front and behind the camera as actor, puppeteer, director, camera operator and editor.
Highlights for Ruth have included a QE2 Art's Council Scholarship with which she studied at The Ecole Jacques Lecoq Movement & Mime School in Paris. On her return she passed on her skills teaching in numerous private and tertiary institutions whilst continuing to perform, write and direct. Ruth has performed and toured throughout New Zealand, appearing at Wellington's Downstage, New Depot and Bats theatres, and Auckland's Watershed, Maidment, Herald and Mercury theatres.
Ruth has various film and television roles to her credit but in 1995 she diversified by becoming Station Manager to Saturn/Telstra's Community TV channel in Wellington where she was responsible for quality control and the production of local news and documentaries.
On her move to Gisborne late 1996, Ruth started freelancing as a camera operator and producing independent videos. She was also employed as a video and performance tutor for Matapuna Training Centre students.
In 2004 she launched her own video production company Struth Video Productions, producing promotional corporate videos, educational videos and filming weddings and private celebrations. She now regularly films news items for TVNZ, TV3 & Maori TV.
More recently Ruth has been able to focus on her biggest passion which is movie making; producing the short film The Yoga Room in 2005 & co-producing the 48Hour Film 'Regular Guy' in 2007 http://www.dontcallusproductions.blogspot.com/ As well as managing a thriving video company & 2 young children, Ruth continues to tutor drama, to perform & to teach yoga. She is also writing her third film script.
