eastcapeART - The Gisborne Working Artfest
Gisborne

Brilliant sunshine, groups of happy relaxed people and a diverse and interesting range of local and national artists have graced this event for two years running now and the 2008 Working Artfest promises more of the same...

The Gisborne Working Artfest is an annual event founded by Andrea Ford of eastcapeART, a local with a vision for the future of the arts in Gisborne.   For the occasion Andrea transforms her stunning two acre garden to provide a wonderfully unique setting for artists, many of whom travel from other parts of New Zealand, to display and sell their work.

Visitors not only get to see a range of different art forms, they also get to watch the artists at work and chat about the processes and the resulting pieces.  In past years, artists have worked in mediums including copper, jewellery, beads, printing, painting, photography, Oamaru stone, ceramics, clay, fibre, flax, wood, mosaic, silver, and soft stone.

It's an inspiring way to spend a couple of hours on a weekend, perusing the artwork and indulging in some of the fresh local food on offer - gourmet BBQ, antipasto and cheese platters, award winning wines, or a juice or coffee. Visitors can relax in a spot in the sun or the shade, and kick back to some live music and a good dose of people-watching.

The next Artfest is set for Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 February 2008.
